Agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization are investigating the death of a Canadian citizen surnamed Morris, 62, who was found dead on Monday at his home in Carrillo Canton, Guanacaste Province.
According to the agents, Morris had lived in Guanacaste for several years.
The brief information provided by the agents determined that on Sunday night, a man who also knew Morris was walking near the expat’s house and saw that the front door was open, the lights were on and the television was on.
The next morning, specifically on Monday at 6 a.m., the witness reported that he walked again near Morris's house, when he saw that the front door was still open, the lights and the television were still on.
The witness suspected that something strange was happening and decided to enter the house to check if Morris was okay, the agents said.
Allegedly, the witness found Morris's body approximately 60 meters away from the expat house but inside of his property, for which he reported the incident to 911.
Forensic experts and judicial agents showed up at the site, finding several blows to Morris's body and face. No traces of attacks with a weapon or knife were found, they said in its report.
The body was taken to the Judicial Morgue in Heredia Province where experts will continue the investigation to clarify the cause of death of the Canadian citizen.
