About 34,000 drivers fined
for improper parking

Traffic Police reported that about 34,000 fines for parking in the prohibited area have been made from January to October this year.
According to a police report, parking in prohibited places reduces the space available for road traffic that may cause an accident.
The most common places of illegal parking are in front of a house or business garage, in front of or near a fire hydrant, very close to the corner or in a specifically yellow marked area of prohibition.
According to the traffic law, the fine for illegal parking is about $95, in addition to the possibility of seized plates or even the vehicle.
The police announced the increase in patrols in search of illegally parked vehicles, especially due to the arrival of the Christmas season and offer in stores.
In other traffic cases in October the police reported 1,800 fines were issued from January to September, on other kinds of common offenses made by drivers.
According to the police, drivers constantly made the same four mistakes as driving with a suspended license, making a U-turn in prohibited areas, passing another car in a curve and invading the oncoming lane.
The fine for committing any of these infractions is $547 and six points against the driver's record.
According to traffic police statistics, 898 fines have been recorded for disrespecting the yellow line and invading the oncoming lane.
"The yellow line was painted on the road, because, precisely, the General Directorate of Traffic Engineering determined, through technical studies, that it should prevent the lane change in those areas," said the traffic police in its statement.
Police said that 364 fines have been issued for a driver passing on a curve "This is the second-highest cause of death on the road this year, opposite line invasion with 64 dead on the road," said German Marín-Sandí, director of the Traffic Police.
Police said 427 fines have been issued for making illegal U-turns, "The rush of the drivers makes them commit this recklessness," said officers.
Also, 111 drivers have been fined for driving with a suspended license. The serious thing about this is that they are people who "committed such a serious offense that they lost their right to drive for a year, but they continue driving," said officers.
Officers called on drivers to respect the traffic law to avoid fines and moreover avoid the increase in road accidents.
