Synopsys, Inc., a firm based in California that specializes in intellectual property design and verification, as well as software security, has announced the launch of its Research Alliance Academy in Costa Rica.

According to the corporation, the opening of its operations in Costa Rica is part of an agreement with the Ministry of Science, Innovation, Technology, and Telecommunications.

The agreement's goal is to boost Costa Rica's workforce growth in digital and semiconductor technologies.

The deal is in response to the expansion of industries such as semiconductors, cybersecurity, and other thriving technological sectors in Costa Rica, said the Ministry in its statement.

The academy will provide technical training for professionals, eventually leading to more substantial work chances, according to the authorities.

"This agreement with the ministry is part of our global initiative to train semiconductor talent," said Victor Grimblatt, Synopsys' Executive Director and Executive Sponsor for Latin America.

Synopsys and the Ministry will collaborate on a variety of activities, including the establishment of a Center of Excellence that will focus on capacity development in the sectors of cybersecurity, 5G/6G, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) among other topics, the ministry added.

The firm has operations in Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia.

Synopsys is one of many international companies that branched in Costa Rica.  Recently, over 30 companies headquartered in the United States announced a job fair to take place in San Josť.
