The combined
jackpots for the two largest U.S.
lotteries, Mega Millions® and Powerball® have
soared past $340 million for this
weekend’s drawings.
The
first drawing is for Mega Millions,
scheduled for tonight, Friday, Jan.
10, 2025. The jackpot is
now estimated
at $77 million, with a cash option of
$33 million.
Tickets for Mega
Millions can be purchased on the lottery’s
official website by U.S. residents.
The Mega Millions jackpot has continued to grow after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Tuesday, Jan. 7. The winning numbers were 20, 24, 33, 39, and 48, with the gold Mega Ball 16 and a 2X Megaplier.
The second major drawing of the
weekend is for Powerball, with the
jackpot now standing at $263 million, or
an estimated cash option of $115
million. The next Powerball drawing is set
for Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.
International
participants can play Powerball and
other lotteries through The Lotter
website.
The Powerball jackpot increased after no ticket matched all six numbers in the Wednesday, Jan. 8, drawing. The winning numbers were 1, 20, 36, 38, and 43, with the red Powerball 24 and a 2X Power Play multiplier.
The jackpot grows until it is won. Players win a prize by matching one of the 9 ways to win. The jackpot is won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball. Powerball costs about $2 per play. To play, people should select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball. People can choose the numbers on a play slip or let the lottery terminal randomly pick the numbers. Jackpot winners may choose to receive their prize as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum payment. Both advertised prize options are before federal and jurisdictional taxes.
