The Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) is actively searching for a missing U.S. citizen identified as Steven Lee Kloehn.

Authorities said the 72-year-old tourist was reported missing on Friday, April 4. He was last seen in a public area near downtown San José, the capital city.

Although Kloehn was reported missing last week, authorities made the case public on Monday evening after initial investigative efforts yielded limited results. The delay is not uncommon, as agents often attempt to gather early leads before turning to the public for assistance.

The OIJ is asking the public to provide any information that may help locate Kloehn. Tips can be submitted confidentially through the 10-digit hotline at 800-8000-645 or via WhatsApp at 8800-0645.

Officials have not released additional details about the case. Access to information remains restricted to Kloehn’s family.

A.M. Costa Rica encourages readers to share this missing-person alert with their networks.

The OIJ, a branch of Costa Rica’s Supreme Court of Justice, is responsible for conducting criminal investigations nationwide.
