Brisa Hennessy, a Tica surfer (a term used for a native of Costa Rica), earned third place in the Rip Curl Pro tournament, which took place in Bells Beach, Victoria, Australia.

According to the Surf Federation, Hennessy finished third in the competition, defeating Australia's Molly Picklum. Gabriela Bryan, a US surfer, won the tournament.

Hennessy, from Matapalo Cape on the Osa Peninsula in Puntarenas Province, participated in Australia just a few weeks after being released from the hospital following an accidental eardrum perforation (rupture), according to the Federation.

The Rip Curl Pro is a World Surf League (WSL) surfing tournament hosted in Australia and sponsored by the surf business Rip Curl. The competition is conducted yearly around Easter. This year, it took place from March 26 to April 5, 2024.

Recently Hennessy finished third in the World Surf League competition held in Hawaii, USA.

Hennessy has qualified to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics which is scheduled to take place from July to August in France.
