activities are happening this weekend,
including concerts, plays, festivals,
cultural events and shows among many others. Kindly inform us of any

On Friday
The National Dance
Company presents the "Contemporary Dance
Show" in the Narime Complex in Orotina,
Puntarenas. The
event, free to the public, begins at
6:30 p.m.
The National
Symphony Orchestra will perform a
classical music concert in honor of
German composer and conductor Richard
Georg Strauss at the National Shrine
of the Holy Christ of Esquipulas in Alajuelita
Canton, San José. The
free public event begins at 7 p.m.
The Cartago's
Township Band will offer a free
classical music event celebrating George
Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" at the Cartago Amphitheater. The
free and pet-friendly event begins at
6:30 p.m.
The Mixed Rock
Band will give a concert to celebrate
the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival in New
York, United States. The performance
begins at 8 p.m. and will take place at
The Whiskey Bar in Santa Ana, San
Jose. Tickets for $8 are available at
the venue box office.
The Stone Dive Rock Band will give a rock music concert inspired by top American bands such as Linkin Park, Evanescence and Red Hot Chili Peppers at the London Room Pub in San José. The concert starts at 9 p.m. Tickets $16 are available at the venue's box office.
On Friday and Saturday
The Heredia's Township Band offers two free folk music concerts. On Friday, the show will take place at the Omar Dengo Cultural Center at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the pet-friendly show will begin at 10 a.m. at the Nicolás Ulloa Central Park.
The Esencias Afro Festival will be
held in Montes de Oca
Municipality Cultural Center in San José. The municipality
arranged the festival, which
includes Afro-Caribbean food, music,
dance performances, and concerts.
The festival's doors open at 10 a.m.
The event is
free. The Calypso Moonlight Festival

The National Theater in downtown San José presents
"Little Women" based on the novel
written by American novelist Louisa
May Alcott. The play is featured by
the National Theater Company. On
Saturday, the show starts at 5
p.m. On Sunday, it starts at 5 p.m. Ticket's $16 and are available
on the theater's website. Connecturday, Costa Rica's major
video gaming festival, will take place at the Heredia National Convention
Center. The event features video game
tournaments, costume presentations
for video game characters, and live
music. The event begins at 9 a.m.
Tickets ranging from $20 to $100 are

On Sunday
The San José's Township Band
presents the "Caribbean
Music Concert," at the National Museum in downtown San José. The free
entry event will start at 11 a.m. The Guanacaste's Township Band
will be performing a free folk music concert at the Bagaces Canton
Catholic Church. The free
concert starts at 10 a.m. The Espressivo Theater, in San José, presents "I am
Pinocchio," a children's play based
on the novel The Adventures of
Pinocchio by Italian writer Carlo
Collodi of Florence, Tuscany. The
program begins at 2 p.m. Tickets
cost $15 and are available at the
theater box office.
This weekend
The Espressivo Theater, in San José, performs "Every
Brilliant Thing," a play based on
Duncan Macmillan's original work.
The piece, set to a boy's
handwritten list to cheer up his
despairing mother, evolves into an
unexpectedly hilarious and heartfelt
hymn to mankind. This performance
involves conversations about
depression and suicide and is
appropriate for children aged 12 and
above, accompanied by an adult. On
Friday and Saturday, the performance
starts at 8 p.m. On Sunday, the show
starts at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $20 and
are available at the theater's box
office. The National University Chamber
Dance Company will perform a modern
dance presentation in the Dance Theater housed within the Ministry of
Culture's facilities in San José. On
Friday and Saturday, the performance
begins at 7 p.m. On Sunday, the show
begins at 6 p.m. Admission is
free. The Van Gogh Immersive Art
Experience Show takes place in the Center for Science and
Culture. The place is housed within
the Children's Museum
facilities in downtown San José. The
performance combines hundreds of Van
Gogh's masterpieces with
cutting-edge technology and a
musical soundtrack. The gallery's
doors open at noon. Tickets are
available for $12 at the museum's
box office. Suegras Barbaras, or Crazy
Mothers-in-Law, is a comedy
performance playing in the Triciclo Theater, in downtown San José. It is a
comedy about a couple on vacation
who, due to an unexpected
circumstance, must travel with their
mother-in-law. On Friday and
Saturday, the show starts at 8 p.m.
On Sunday, the comedy begins at 5
p.m. Tickets are $20 and available
at the theater box office. La Máscara Theater in downtown San José offers the
comedy piece "Ghosts on a Hot Tin
Roof." The satire tells the
narrative of its characters as they
go through a bizarre and haunting
situation. On Friday and Saturday,
the show starts at 8 p.m. On Sunday,
the comedy begins at 7 p.m. Tickets
are $16 and available at the theater
box office. The comedy play "No Job, No Money"
is playing at the Molière Theater in downtown San José. The comedy
follows a group of friends who must
go to crazy lengths to make ends
meet. On Friday and Saturday, the
show starts at 8 p.m. On Sunday, the
comedy begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are
$10 and available at the theater box
office.
Libertad Park Club in Desamparados in San José presents activities for teenagers such as painting, dance, music, sports and arts. The free and pet-friendly event begins at 9 a.m.
Children's Museum in downtown San José features special activities for kids. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Tickets $3 are available on the museum's website.
Tours are
available at the
Wildlife Rescue Center in
Barrio San José District in Alajuela.
The animal sanctuary and wildlife
conservation center tours include
botanical gardens and more than 125
species of rescued animals including
sloths, monkeys, jaguars, tapir,
birds, and reptiles. They cannot be
released back to their natural
habitat. Tickets are $30 or $15 per
child available on the
center's website.
Tours are
available at Kids
Saving the Rainforest Wildlife
Sanctuary in
Quepos Beach, Puntarenas. The
non-profit organization is home to
nearly 50 animals that cannot be
released back into the wild. Ticket is

Experience
the arrival of sea turtles at Ostional
National Park in Guanacaste, beginning
at 6:30 a.m. with an expert guide
from the
Ostional Tourist Guides Association. Tour

Puntarenas City, Puntarenas. Doors

Free swimming, Zumba, aerobics, sports games, fitness and diving are among many other courses at Ojo de Agua Water Park in San Antonio Belen, Heredia. The club includes a parking area, restaurant, several swimming pools for adults and a swimming pool area for children, a playground, tennis areas, basketball areas and a soccer field. The place opens at 7:30 a.m. Ticket is $3.
Kalambu
Hot Springs Water Park in
La Fortuna, Alajuela, offers more than
10 aquatic activities and hot spring
pools. The park opens at 10 a.m.
Tickets are $8 or $13 including lunch.
Free for children under 4 years
old. Go ride
hopping at the Parque
de Diversiones in
La Uruca, San José. The amusement park
has more than 17 rides such as roller
coasters, carousels, twists and bumper
cars among many others. Enjoy their
food court zone and picnic area. The
park opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $11.

Conservation Area invites
visitors to both the Santa Rosa and
the Horizon Experimental
Forest Station in Guanacaste. Tickets

Diquis
Museum in
Palmar Sur, Osa, Puntarenas, offers
walking tours through the
archaeological zone known as Finca
Sitio 6. Tours are from 8 a.m. to 2
p.m. Ticket is $7 and must be paid by
credit or debit card.
The Art
Museum in
downtown La Sabana, San José, presents
private collections of Latin American
artists. The museum is open from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket is $15.
Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.
