Many amusing
activities are happening this weekend,
including concerts, plays, festivals,

On Friday
The Diesel Rock Band is playing rock music from the 90s at Jazz Cafe Pub in Escazu Canton, San José. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets for $20 are available at the venue's box office.
On Friday and Saturday
The National Symphony Orchestra, featuring soprano María Jesús Castro and the National Choir, will present two opera concerts at the National Theater in downtown San José. Friday's program starts at 8 p.m. On Sunday, the show will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tickets cost $20 to $40 and may be purchased at the theater's box office or online.
The Diaspora Parade, which honors Afro-Costa Rican culture, will be held at the National Park in San José. The event serves as a prelude to the forthcoming Flowers of the African Diaspora Festival, which begins next week. The free, pet-friendly celebration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will include parades and a reggae music performance with Kenneth Mayorga, Queens of Reggae, and Senegalese dancer Sally Velingara.

Institute will give a classical music
concert at the National Theater, in downtown San
José. The program begins at 5 p.m. Free
admission.
The Limón's
Township Band offers a Calypso music
concert featuring the Kawe Calypso Band
at Cahuita Beach Central
Park in Limón, at 6
p.m. Pet-friendly
and free admission.
Costa Rican singer
Jafet performs in tribute to British
singer Adele at Jazz Cafe Pub in Escazu Canton,
San José. The show begins at 8 p.m.

Taco's Fest will be held in Curridabat Canton Central Park in San José. The festival features taco restaurant food trucks serving, in addition to traditional Mexican tacos, Vasos Lokos, Pepinos Lokos, Doritoschilin, and a variety of spicy snacks and drinks. There will also be live music, cultural activities, as well as games for kids. The event begins at 11 a.m. Pet-friendly and free admission.
On Sunday
The Espressivo
Theater, in San José,
presents "I am Pinocchio," a children's
play based on the novel The Adventures
of Pinocchio (1883) by Italian writer
Carlo Collodi of Florence, Tuscany. The
program begins at 2 p.m. Tickets cost

The San José's
Township Band offers a concert at the Cedros Community Hall starting at 11
a.m. Free
admission.
The Alajuela's
Township Band offers a concert at the Alajuela City
Central Park, at 9 a.m. Pet-friendly

The Heredia's Township Band offers a concert at the Nicolás Ulloa Central Park starting at 10 a.m. Pet-friendly and free admission.
This weekend
"Suegras
Barbaras," or "Crazy Mothers-in-Law," is
a comedy performance playing in the Triciclo Theater, in downtown San
José. It is a comedy
about a couple on vacation who, due to an
unexpected circumstance, must travel with
their mother-in-law. On Fridays and
Saturdays, the show starts at 8 p.m. On
Sundays, the comedy begins at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and available at the
theater box office.
La Máscara Theater in downtown San
José offers the comedy piece "Ghosts on
a Hot Tin Roof." The satire tells the
narrative of its characters as they go
through a bizarre and haunting
situation. On Fridays and Saturdays, the
show starts at 8 p.m. On Sundays, the
comedy begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $16
and available at the theater box office.
The comedy play "No Job, No Money" is playing at the Molière Theater in downtown San José. The comedy follows a group of friends who must go to crazy lengths to make ends meet. On Fridays and Saturdays, the show starts at 8 p.m. On Sundays, the comedy begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at the theater box office.
Libertad Park Club in Desamparados in San José presents activities for teenagers such as painting, dance, music, sports and arts. The free and pet-friendly event begins at 9 a.m.
Children's Museum in downtown San José features special activities for kids. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Tickets $3 are available on the museum's website.
Tours are
available at the
Wildlife Rescue Center in
Barrio San José District in Alajuela.
The animal sanctuary and wildlife
conservation center tours include
botanical gardens and more than 125
species of rescued animals including
sloths, monkeys, jaguars, tapir,
birds, and reptiles. They cannot be
released back to their natural
habitat. Tickets are $30 or $15 per
child available on the
center's website.
Tours are
available at Kids
Saving the Rainforest Wildlife
Sanctuary in
Quepos Beach, Puntarenas. The
non-profit organization is home to
nearly 50 animals that cannot be
released back into the wild. Ticket is

Experience
the arrival of sea turtles at Ostional
National Park in Guanacaste, beginning
at 6:30 a.m. with an expert guide
from the
Ostional Tourist Guides Association. Tour

Games for
children, playgrounds and pools are
available at Punta
Pirata Beach Club in
Puntarenas City, Puntarenas. Doors
open at 8 a.m. Ticket is $16.
Free swimming, Zumba, aerobics, sports games, fitness and diving are among many other courses at Ojo de Agua Water Park in San Antonio Belen, Heredia. The club includes a parking area, restaurant, several swimming pools for adults and a swimming pool area for children, a playground, tennis areas, basketball areas and a soccer field. The place opens at 7:30 a.m. Ticket is $3.
Kalambu
Hot Springs Water Park in
La Fortuna, Alajuela, offers more than
10 aquatic activities and hot spring
pools. The park opens at 10 a.m.
Tickets are $8 or $13 including lunch.
Free for children under 4 years
old. Go ride
hopping at the Parque
de Diversiones in
La Uruca, San José. The amusement park
has more than 17 rides such as roller
coasters, carousels, twists and bumper
cars among many others. Enjoy their
food court zone and picnic area. The
park opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $11.

Conservation Area invites
visitors to both the Santa Rosa and
the Horizon Experimental
Forest Station in Guanacaste. Tickets

Diquis
Museum in
Palmar Sur, Osa, Puntarenas, offers
walking tours through the
archaeological zone known as Finca
Sitio 6. Tours are from 8 a.m. to 2
p.m. Ticket is $7 and must be paid by
credit or debit card.
The Art
Museum in
downtown La Sabana, San José, presents
private collections of Latin American
artists. The museum is open from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket is $15.
Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.
