Many amusing activities are happening this weekend, including concerts, plays, festivals, cultural events and shows among many others. Kindly inform us of any weekend events taking place in your community by sending an email to news@amcostarica.com.










On Friday




The Mexican singer Alejandro Fernandez will perform a Mexican music concert at Heredia's Pedregal Events Center. The program begins at 7 p.m. The Eticket website offers tickets ranging from $70 to $165.




The Municipality of Guanacaste Band offers a concert at Colegio San Ambrosio in Nicoya Canton in Guanacaste, at 9 a.m. Free admission.




The Municipality of Cartago Band will give a concert starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Cartago Municipal Amphitheater, in Cartago.  Free admission and reservations can be made through the municipal website.








On Saturday




The "Dear Evan Hansen Musical" with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and inspired in the book by Steven Levenson. The musical follows Evan Hansen, a high school senior with social anxiety, who invents an important role for himself in a tragedy that he did not earn.
The play is housed within the Children's Museum facilities in downtown San José.   The program begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are available for $30 at the museum's box office.





The Rockets Band will play tribute to the legendary British band Queen at Stereo Canibal Pub in downtown San José. The presentation starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free.




The Mustang 65, is playing a rock music concert from the 60s and 70s at the London Room Pub in San José. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 available at the venue box office.












On Saturday and Sunday



The Nacional Theater in downtown San José offers "Play Off," a comedic play on women's roles in sports. There are two shows on Saturday, at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. On Sunday, the event begins at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $16 and are available at the theater box office.



ExpoPyme Entrepreneurs Fair will be held at 
the Antigua Aduana Events Center in downtown San José. The fair offers souvenirs, plants, apparel, jewelry, furniture, and plants among many other products. The activity begins at 9 a.m. with a free pass.








On Sunday




The opera singer Ricardo Bernal will perform with Mariachi Colonial at the City Mall in Alajuela. The show begins at 5 p.m. Free entrance.




The Meet the Beatles Festival will be held in San Jose's La Sabana Central Park. The Beatles Costa Rica fan club planned the event that features over 10 performances by rock bands singing Beatles classics. The program starts at 10 a.m. Pet-friendly and admission is free.




The Municipality of Alajuela Band will give a concert at 6:45 p.m. at Upala Canton Central Park in Alajuela. Pet-friendly and free admission.




The Municipality of Puntarenas Band will offer a concert at 10 a.m. at Esparza Canton Central Park in Puntarenas. Pet-friendly and free admission.












This weekend



Taco's Fest will be held in Barva Canton Central Park in Heredia. The festival features taco restaurant food trucks serving, in addition to traditional Mexican tacos, Vasos Lokos, Pepinos Lokos, Doritoschilin, and a variety of spicy snacks and drinks. There will also be live music, cultural activities, as well as games for kids. The event begins at 11 a.m. Pet-friendly and free admission.




The International Coffee Fair will be held at the Ayala Horse Field Club in CartagoThe fair features over 30 local and foreign coffee producer enterprises, as well as coffee-derived food. In addition, there will be performances, live music, and children's activities. On Friday, the fair opens its doors at 1 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the event begins at 11 a.m. Tickets for $6 are available at the club box office.  




Edith Eger, a Czechoslovakian-born American psychologist and Holocaust survivor wrote the novel that inspired the play "The Choice," which Espressivo Theater, in San José,  is presenting. On Friday and Saturday, the play begins at 8 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively. Tickets for $14 are available at the theater box office.

Libertad Park Club in Desamparados in San José presents activities for teenagers such as painting, dance, music, sports and arts. The free and pet-friendly event begins at 9 a.m.





Children's Museum in downtown San José features special activities for kids. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Tickets $3 are available on the museum's website.  




Tours are available at the Wildlife Rescue Center in Barrio San José District in Alajuela. The animal sanctuary and wildlife conservation center tours include botanical gardens and more than 125 species of rescued animals including sloths, monkeys, jaguars, tapir, birds, and reptiles. They cannot be released back to their natural habitat. Tickets are $30 or $15 per child available on the center's website.




Tours are available at Kids Saving the Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary in Quepos Beach, Puntarenas. The non-profit organization is home to nearly 50 animals that cannot be released back into the wild. Ticket is $10. Make reservations by emailing Chip@kstr.org or calling 8827-8243.









Experience the arrival of sea turtles at Ostional National Park in Guanacaste, beginning at 6:30 a.m. with an expert guide from the Ostional Tourist Guides Association. Tour price $8.




Games for children, playgrounds and pools are available at Punta Pirata Beach Club in Puntarenas City, Puntarenas. Doors open at 8 a.m. Ticket is $16.



Free swimming, Zumba, aerobics, sports games, fitness and diving are among many other courses at Ojo de Agua Water Park in San Antonio Belen, Heredia. The club includes a parking area, restaurant, several swimming pools for adults and a swimming pool area for children, a playground, tennis areas, basketball areas and a soccer field. The place opens at 7:30 a.m. Ticket is $3. 




Kalambu Hot Springs Water Park in La Fortuna, Alajuela, offers more than 10 aquatic activities and hot spring pools. The park opens at 10 a.m. Tickets are $8 or $13 including lunch. Free for children under 4 years old.



Go ride hopping at the Parque de Diversiones in La Uruca, San José. The amusement park has more than 17 rides such as roller coasters, carousels, twists and bumper cars among many others. Enjoy their food court zone and picnic area. The park opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $11. For more information visit the park's website.









System of Conservation Areas invites visitors to the Chirripó National Parks in Cartago and Limon, Poás Volcano in Alajuela, Tortuguero in Limon, San Lucas Island in Puntarenas, Irazú Volcano in Cartago and Manuel Antonio Beach in Puntarenas. Make reservations on the organization's website.




Guanacaste Conservation Area invites visitors to both the Santa Rosa and the Horizon Experimental Forest Station in Guanacaste. Tickets are available on the organization's website.




Diquis Museum in Palmar Sur, Osa, Puntarenas, offers walking tours through the archaeological zone known as Finca Sitio 6. Tours are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ticket is $7 and must be paid by credit or debit card.








Lankester Botanical Gardens, a set of gardens located in Dulce Nombre, Cartago opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $10  and is available on site.




The Art Museum in downtown La Sabana, San José, presents private collections of Latin American artists. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket is $15.


National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ticket is $11.






Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.
