On Friday






The Diesel Rock Band will bring a night of 90s American music to Jazz Cafe Pub in Escazú, San José. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m., offering a nostalgic experience for fans of the decade’s iconic rock tunes. Tickets are priced at $20 and can be purchased at the venue’s box office.




The Stone Dive Rock Band will take the stage at Mundoloco Pub in San José for a concert inspired by iconic American rock bands like Nirvana, Linkin Park and Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. The show kicks off at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the venue’s box office.





On Saturday




French jazz singer Cyrille Aimée accompanied by pianist, composer, and producer Mathis Picard, will take the stage at National Theater in San José.  Aimée's performance will feature a blend of jazz standards, original compositions, and contemporary arrangements, promising a musical experience that transcends genres and captivates jazz enthusiasts. The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced between $10 and $25 and can be purchased online or at the theater's box office.




The Tortugas Rock Band will perform timeless hits from classic American rock bands of the 60s and 70s at the Yellow Submarine Sports Bar in Moravia, San José. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10 and can be purchased at the venue’s box office.












On Saturday and Sunday


The Eugene O'Neill Theater in San José will present the "Mean Girls Musical" performed by the Maracuyá theater company. The production is inspired by the 2004 American teen comedy film "Mean Girls." It follows Cady Heron, a naïve teenager who, after years of homeschooling in Africa, transfers to an American high school. Cady befriends two outcasts, and together, they hatch a plan to take down Regina George, the leader of an envied clique known as "The Plastics." Showtimes are Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets are priced at $20 and can be purchased online or at the theater box office.

The Palmares Festival is underway in Palmares Canton, Alajuela Province, organized by the Palmareña Civic Association. The extravaganza offers a variety of cultural experiences, including live music concerts, city canopy activities, children’s games, dances, bullfights, and sports championships. Most of the events are free to attend and pet-friendly. Tickets for the bar and restaurant zone are available at the venue’s box office for approximately $20.





The Santa Cruz Festival, organized by the Folk Festivals Commission, is taking place this weekend in Santa Cruz Canton, Guanacaste Province. Held at the Santa Cruz fairgrounds, the event honors the Holy Christ of Esquipulas and offers a variety of activities, including concerts, dances, a horse parade, children’s games, and bullfighting shows. Most festival activities are free to attend and pet-friendly.




Step right up to the "Fuentes-Gasca Circus" at the Cable Tica facilities in Sabana, San José, for a dazzling show filled with excitement and wonder! Witness incredible trapeze artists, captivating music, lively dance, talented jugglers, hilarious clowns, and magical acts that will leave you amazed. The Art Museum in downtown La Sabana, San José, presents private collections of Latin American artists. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket is $15.




National Museum in downtown San José, presents an exhibition of Costa Rica's history and handmade artifacts, including some more than 12,000 years old, made by the first peoples of the region. Museum hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ticket is $11.






Gold Museum in downtown San José presents an exhibition of Costa Rican bills and coins since 1850. Also, in the exhibit are the 700 pieces of handcrafted gold made by the first population in Costa Rica. The museum opens at 9 a.m. Ticket is $15.
