Agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization in a joint operation with officers of the Ministry of Health seized counterfeit products valued at $65,776.8.

The special operation called PANGEA began in May with several reviews of products on sale in shops located in many zones of the country. As a result of the investigation, police seized a total of 10,234 units of illegal products such as medicines, natural products with medicinal qualities and diet supplements, fake Dolo-Neurobión medical products, anabolic steroids (counterfeit from the Cooper and Pharmacore brands), and covid-19 tests, among many others.

These products were lacking sanitary registration numbers, falsified or expired registration, non-compliance with labeling requirements, and even products which were listed in the ministry sanitary alert.

Among the businesses investigated were shops, macrobiotics, storage articles in the post office and at the imported storage custom offices at the Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela Province.

According to the agent's report, most of the counterfeit products are currently under health alert issued by the ministry, which were found on sale at the shops named Truvision, Truvy Products, Mexican Tecojote Root and Distribuidora Nova Vita Products.

Operation PANGEA is the result of joint work with Interpol Global Health and Illicit Goods Program. They carry out simultaneous operations in hundreds of countries annually during the International Week of Action.

The goal of this operation is to identify illegal drugs and counterfeit medical supplies among other fake products.

According to the global results of Operation PANGEA XIV, a total of 9,089,549 units of products were seized worldwide, with a value of more than $23 million. Surpassing last year’s $14 million in seized products.

Authorities urge people to report any suspected counterfeit products by emailing
