The government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed the renewal of an agreement with the Costa Rican Chamber of Health to promote private health services abroad.

According to the ministry, the goal of the agreement, called Memorandum of Understanding, is to expedite mutual technical assistance, promote private health services abroad, and attract investment to increase activity and improve the health services offered in Costa Rica.

The Costa Rican Chamber of Health is made up of companies and health professionals. It was created to ensure that international patients visiting Costa Rica receive consistent, high-quality medical and dental services. "The Chamber seeks to consolidate and promote Costa Rica as a leader in Medical Tourism, healthcare and wellness travel," they said in their statement.

The private health sector represented by the Chamber is a fundamental pillar for the generation of new investments in research and development, and good quality of employment, the Ministry said in its statement.

Health is the new resource of our country, as the pandemic confinement is released and the possibilities of travel are reactivated, according to the ministry.

The Minister Rodolfo Solano- Quirós added: "there will be more opportunities for trips and experiences focused on improving and recovering physical, mental and spiritual health.”

The agreement allows promoting various strategies to position Costa Rica as a global hub for health, education, medical services and research to attract investments in this sector to the country.

One of the strategies that have been developed is known as "Estamos Con Vos", which means We are by your side, in English. With this campaign, medical services (on physical and mental health issues) were provided to Costa Ricans living abroad.

According to the ministry, Costa Rica has more than 50 years in the development of medical sciences, research and private companies that make the country an important partner at the international level.
