One of U.S. premiere tap dance artists, Ted Louis Levy, will be the guest star of the Costa Rica Tap Show, which will be held Saturday at the Eugene O'Neill Theater* in San Pedro, San José.

Born in 1960 in Chicago, Illinois, the Chicago Emmy Award winner Levy is a tap dance legend, widely known as one of the top artists on Broadway.

In 1989, he debuted on Broadway in the musical “Black and Blue.” In 2000 was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for his role in “Rollin 'On The T.O.B.A.” In 2003 for a supporting actor role in “Hot Mikado,” he won a Helen Hayes Award. In 2011 he was nominated for Jeff Awards. In 2012 he was nominated for an additional Jeff Award for supporting actor for his role in “My One and Only.” In 2018 he received dual Big Easy Award nominations for a revival of “Jelly's Last Jam in New Orleans” for choreography and best lead actor in a musical.

The artist will be accompanied by musicians and tap dancers of the Costa Rican TapCR group, which in co-sponsored the festival with the North American Costa Rican Cultural Center.

"Providing shows with artists of the quality of Ted Louis Levy allows us to improve the cultural relationship between Costa Rica and the United States," said Guillermo Madriz, executive director of the cultural center. "It is a unique opportunity and we hope to see a lot of people at the show."

The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets have prices between $10 to $14 and can be purchased at the theater or on the website https://teo.cr.
