One new public clinic, known as Ebais, opened in San Vito District in Coto Brus Canton, Puntarenas Province. 

 

According to Social Security, the clinic is providing medical services from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to attend to about 16,000 people who are assigned to that area.

At the $2.6 million clinic, which was covered by the Social Security budget, the medical services available are general medical care, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry and X-rays among others.

This is one of some public clinics recently inaugurated. Last week, authorities opened two new locations in Heredia.

Recently, Social Security declared an emergency on the long waiting lists for patients making appointments with a specialist.  The wait time has them waiting for weeks or months to receive medical attention.
