The Public Services Regulatory Authority, known as Aresep, has given its approval for the new price of gasoline and LPG fuel gas.
Aresep is the public organization in charge of setting the price of public services.
Recope, the State-owned organization responsible for importing, distributing, and pricing fuels in Costa Rica, has announced that the cost of fuels will be adjusted due to changes in the rate of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), which serves as a reference point for the country.
According to authorities, another factor of fuel cost is the dollar-colones exchange rate which has decreased from ₡625 per $1 in October 2022 to about ₡530 per $1 in October 2023.
However, in the case of Plus 91 gasoline, prices went up since Recope keeps in its reserves a product purchased at a higher price than the current international market price.
The new prices will be as follows:
The new rates go into effect this week after being published in the official government newspaper La Gaceta.
