The Public Services Regulatory Authority, known as Aresep, has given its approval for a decrease in the price of regular gasoline and LPG fuel gas for use in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles.
However, there has been an increase in the cost of super gasoline and diesel.
Aresep is the public organization in charge of setting the price of public services.
Recope, the State-owned organization responsible for importing, distributing, and pricing fuels in Costa Rica, has announced that the cost of fuels will be adjusted due to changes in the rate of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), which serves as a reference point for the country.
According to authorities, another factor of fuel cost is the dollar-colones exchange rate which has decreased from ₡655 per $1 in August 2022 to currently about ₡550 per $1.
The new prices will be as follows:
The new rates go into effect today because the new prices have been approved and have already been published in the official government newspaper La Gaceta.
