Social Security inaugurated the new William Allen Taylor Public Hospital, located in Turrialba Canton in Cartago Province.
As a special feature, the hospital has inclusive signage language available in various indigenous languages, since there are several indigenous communities in the area among the patients who are attending in the place.
The construction of the hospital was budgeted at about $96 million covered by Social Security.
The hospital has five levels built on 42,000 square meters on a 10-hectare property.
The hospital can accommodate 233 beds, 28 consulting rooms, 13 medical procedure rooms, four operating rooms and two delivery rooms. In addition, the facilities include green areas and parking lots.
The hospital team offers 22 medical specialties with 45 specialists.
Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the hospital brings together physicians in assorted specialties, a nursing staff, various medical technicians, health care administrators and specialized equipment to deliver care to people with acute and chronic health conditions.
The medical staff offers a wide range of services, including emergency care, scheduled surgeries, labor and delivery services, diagnostic testing, lab work and patient education among many others. Depending on their health situation, patients may receive inpatient or outpatient care from a hospital.
This hospital is one of some public health places recently built by authorities. In July, a new public clinic was inaugurated in Puntarenas Province.
