The Social Security public clinic in Horquetas District, Sarapiqui Canton, Heredia Province, is launching a massive mammography screening initiative.

Medical imaging technology is used to identify and diagnose breast illnesses, most notably breast cancer. It entails obtaining X-ray pictures of the breast using specialized equipment known as a mammogram.

Mammograms may detect early symptoms of breast cancer, such as tumors or abnormal breast tissue before they can be felt during a physical examination.

Mammography is an important technique for breast cancer screening, particularly for women over the age of 40 or those who are at higher risk of getting the disease. It can assist in detecting breast cancer at an early stage when it is most curable. Regular mammograms can also detect non-cancerous diseases like cysts or benign tumors.

The campaign will take place at the public clinic known as Ebais beginning this week and running until July 4. The medical service is offered from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Clinic staff intend to assist around 1,000 patients who were previously allocated to this clinic. They are contacting people based on their registration information to schedule medical visits.

Residents of Horquetas who have pending mammography exams may find out more about the medical campaign by visiting the clinic.

This is one of many massive medical care initiatives undertaken by Social Security this year.  Recently, health authorities launched a massive eye surgery campaign in Limón Province.
