Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) agents arrested a woman on Thursday in connection with the murder of French citizen Oliver Greaux, a resident of Costa Rica.

The woman who worked as a maid at the victim’s house, whose identity has not been released, was apprehended during a search of her home in the San Francisco community, near the Villa Real District in Santa Cruz Canton, Guanacaste Province.

The operation, ordered by the Santa Cruz Prosecutor's Office, aims to gather additional evidence and identify those responsible for Greaux's murder.

Along with the woman's arrest, authorities seized cell phones and documents deemed crucial to the investigation.

The woman was transported to OIJ facilities in Santa Cruz for questioning by agents working on the case.

On February 13, the Red Cross received an emergency call around 6:30 p.m. reporting that a man had been shot inside his residence located near Villa Real District.

Preliminary findings suggest that two men broke into Greaux's home, shot him, and stole a safe from the premises.

When emergency responders arrived, they found Greaux conscious but critically injured, having lost a significant amount of blood from multiple gunshot wounds. After administering first aid, he was rushed to a private clinic in the Huacas District.

Later that evening, Greaux was transferred to the Enrique Baltodano Briceño Public Hospital in Liberia, where he died on February 14.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have kept specific details of the case confidential. Only the victim’s family members are authorized to request further information.

The OIJ has urged anyone with information about the suspects to come forward. Tips can be submitted confidentially via the 24-hour hotline at 800-8000-645, the fast line at 11-76. Bilingual agents are available for assistance in both English and Spanish.

The OIJ, which operates under Costa Rica’s Supreme Court of Justice, is responsible for conducting criminal investigations nationwide.
