The southern zone of the country offers many places for tourism activities such as visiting the Dulce Gulf or Golfito Bay.

These places are included in the new campaign launched by the Tourism Institute to promote visiting Golfito Canton, in Puntarenas Province.

As part of the campaign, the institute published the Guide to Golfito website, which is a list of places to visit in that area. The guide is only available in the Spanish language.

The institute included information on activities in places such as Esquinas Cope and Cativo beaches, or Adams Summit and Grand Island among other tourist places.

In this canton, there are a variety of activities offered for tourism, such as visits to indigenous territories, bird and whale watching, tours in the Golfito National Wildlife Refuge, visiting Golfito Marina, surfing or diving on the beaches and rivers, among many others.

The guide includes a map, cultural activities agenda, the characteristics of each district and the access routes.

Also, the document informs about handicraft shops, restaurants, cultural sites, protected areas, beaches and a tourist directory among other data.

Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Costa Rica.  The country reported a new tourism record reached in 2023, with more than 2,4 million travelers visiting the country.

In 2022, about 2.3 million tourists visited Costa Rica, representing one million more visitors than in 2021.
