The Costa Rica
Christmas Gift Drive project is
commemorating its 15th anniversary of
funding Christmas festivities at remote
public elementary schools. Brendan Ryan, a
North Carolina expat who has resided in
Parrita Canton, Puntarenas
Province, for the past 20 years as a
Real Estate Developer, is organizing the
gifts initiative to give hope to
hundreds of children. According to Ryan,
this year, with the assistance of
numerous volunteers and donations from
his customers, friends, and family, they
are purchasing gifts for more than 500
children at eleven local primary
schools, two youth outreach programs,
and an organization that provides free
childcare for single moms.
"We
visit each school with Santa and Mrs. Claus
and put on a show for the kids to spread a
little Christmas magic and hope to kids who
otherwise might not receive anything for
Christmas," Ryan
said.
The
fundraising goal this year is $7,500. They have
raised about $4,600 of their goal and 100%
of donations will go to the gifts & children's
parties.
