The Public Services Regulatory Authority (Aresep) has approved price increases for liquefied gas, diesel, and gasoline.

The rise in gas prices requested by the Costa Rica Oil Company (Recope) is attributed to higher costs in international market prices during the fuel import negotiations.

The updated prices will be as follows:

The price of super-branded gasoline (RON 95) has increased from ₡671 to ₡682 colones per liter (p/l), roughly $1.36 p/l.

Regular gasoline (RON 91 or Plus 91), rose from ₡650 to ₡671 colones p/l, about $1.34 p/l.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly used for heating, cooking, and vehicles, has seen a price hike. The cost of a 25-pound gas cylinder has increased from ₡7,423 to ₡7,694 colones or about $15.38 per unit.

The new prices will be effective this week after being published in the official government bulletin La Gaceta.
