The University of Costa Rica's Medical School will host a free healthcare fair for Bataan District residents in Limón Province.

According to the University, the initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Social Security, and the Municipality of Matina to provide medical assistance on Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 at the Sports Center of the Municipality of Bataan.

Doctors and university teams will give healthcare assistance including nursing, dentistry, internal medicine, blood testing, electrocardiograms, prenatal care and audiology among many others.

The health fair will take place between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Those wishing to receive medical treatment are not required to have social security.

The project aims to aid 2,000 individuals, including Costa Ricans, immigrants, and refugees.

The Bataan health care fair is one of several charity efforts launched by the university. The school of nursing now provides free prenatal care to women.

Additionally, Social Security and doctors from the University of Toronto, launched a massive campaign for eye surgeries to take place this week at the Monseñor Sanabria public hospital in Puntarenas Province.
