St. Patrick's Day is observed on Sunday, March 17,
commemorating the entrance of Christianity in Ireland and, by extension, the Irish heritage and culture in general.

In Ireland, the festival is known as a roaring celebration. However, hundreds of pints of stout will be spilled and street celebrations will take place in several nations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Australia, among others.

In Costa Rica, you may raise a toast to Ireland's patron saint at any of the Irish-themed celebration events planned for Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, Craic Irish Pub in San Jose's California District starts the parties at 4 p.m. In addition to multiple brands of imported green beer, the celebration will feature live music by Gray Pilgrim, performances and Irish traditional cuisine.

Most of the parties will be hosted on Sunday, including:

Tap House Pub offers a green beer party at both its Escazu and Santa Ana locations in San Jose. The event will feature live music, dancing performances, raffles, and prizes.

ZI LOUNGE in Coco Beach, Guanacaste, will be hosting live music with Grupo Mangu beginning at 6 p.m., as well as food specials, an Irish menu, green Irish beer, dancers and games. Those wearing green and Irish attire will receive a complimentary green drink.

Sharky's restaurant located in Tamarindo Beach in Guanacaste presents the Green Beer Pong Tournament Party, which has Irish beer and an Irish cuisine menu. The celebration begins at 9 p.m.

PuddleFish Pub, located in Jaco Beach, Puntarenas, offers a celebration with live music by the Tres Amigos band, imported beer, and Irish cuisine. The celebration begins at 6 p.m.

Oz Bar in Jaco Beach, Puntarenas, throws a Green Beer party with DJ music, green drinks, and Irish cuisine. The party begins at 7 p.m.

El Refugio, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of stray dogs and cats, in Costa Ballena, Puntarenas, provides a unique way to celebrate. The charity hosts a celebration at Beehive Restaurant in Uvita Ballena Beach, with games, music, Irish food, cool beverages, and more, all while raising donations to aid animals in need. Everyone is invited to dress in green for the party, which begins at noon.

K-Rae's Irish Pub at Nosara Beach, Guanacaste, offers a party with Irish food, green beer, drink specials, and live music. The celebration begins at 11:30 a.m.

The Palms at Coco Beach in Guanacaste offers a Green Pool Party including Irish food, green beer, drinks, and live music. The party begins at 11:30 a.m.

Special Irish lunch and dinner at ChuBBs Bar and restaurants, at Morazan, Escazu and Sabana, in San José. The menu includes beef dinner, an Irish cream shot and green beer.

Hemingway's Restaurant in Potrero Beach in Guanacaste hosts an Irish party including a live music show, green beer, Irish car bombs and an Irish-inspired menu.
