Mattew Ogens, the filmmaker of the "Audible" short documentary, will show his film in Costa Rica in observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The day is marked annually on December 3 as a worldwide commemoration endorsed by the United Nations since 1992 to increase knowledge of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of disabled people. It also aims to raise awareness about the benefits of integrating people with disabilities into all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

The U.S. Embassy, which is promoting Ogens' visit to Costa Rica, is inviting the public to free film screenings that will be held in San José.

Ogen's film was nominated for Best Documentary Short at the 94th Academy Awards and is now streaming on Netflix.

The documentary follows Maryland School for the Deaf senior athlete Amaree McKenstry-Hall and his teammates as they strive to protect their winning streak while also dealing with the heartbreaking death of a close friend.

The audience will see the film and meet filmmaker Ogens in person at the three screenings.

On Tuesday, December 3, at 6 p.m., the documentary will be screened at the Film Production Center in San José.

On Wednesday, December 4, the movie will be screened at 10 a.m. at the Jade Museum and 4 p.m. at the Veritas University, both places in San José.

Ogens is an American filmmaker, creative director, photographer, and artist. He also received three Emmy Award nominations for his role in directing two original ESPN shows, "The Life" and "Timeless". He also filmed a short film, "From Harlem with Love," on the Harlem Globetrotters for the Emmy Award-winning series "30 for 30."
