The
University of Costa
Rica's Faculty of
Nursing in the San Pedro District, San
José Province, is offering free prenatal
care to women. Preventive
healthcare, also known as antenatal care,
is provided by specialists and includes
medical checkups, prenatal nutrition,
fetal well-being tests (which allow for
the evaluation of the fetal heart rate
pattern and the detection of potential
changes), prenatal and postnatal control,
complication management, risk
identification during pregnancy, and
information about breastfeeding. Follow-up consultations include educational sessions on themes such as childbirth preparation and pregnant mothers' rights.
The
campaign is part of the learning process
for advanced nursing students, who are
supervised by professors with substantial
practical experience. All
women, regardless of nationality or
status, including residents, citizens,
immigrants, and tourists are eligible for
health care. Those interested in getting
medical attention should fill out the form accessible on
the university website or phone
7053-9983.
