The
International Surfing-Pro Festival will take
place in Costa Rica's Pacific Coast from December
5 to 7.
According
to Niels Fallas, vice-mayor of the
Municipality of Garabito Canton in
Puntarenas Province, the multi-sport event
will include surfing, BMX bike motocross,
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), skating, and
stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), among other
sports. It will
take place along the beaches of Hermosa,
Jacó, and Herradura.
"The goal of this multi-sport event is to develop Garabito Canton as a top tourism destination for athletes," Fallas noted.
Athletes
from Central and South America will compete
for rewards such as $15,000 for surfing,
$2,000 for BMX, and $1,500 for BJJ, SUP and
skating.
The
surfing tournament will last from December
5 to 7. Stand-up
paddle boarding will
be place from December
6 to 7. Both games
will take
place at Hermosa
Beach, in
front of the Fuego del Sol Hotel.
Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu games are scheduled on December
6 at Jaco
Beach, in
front of the
Amapola Hotel.
The
last three-day sports activities will take
place on
Saturday, December
7, with the SUP
competition at Herradura
Beach. BMX
riders will race at Tencio
Park near
Jaco Beach. Skating will
take place on Jaco
Beach, in
front of the Civic Center for Peace
facilities.
The
sports event is pet-friendly and offers free
entrance.
