María is portrayed
as a pretty woman who falls in love and
marries Manuel. Overwhelmed by
these thoughts, she reacts impulsively,
resulting in the terrible loss of her
children. In a fit of fury and grief
about the cheating of her husband, she
loses control and drowns her children in
a river. María experiences
regret and guilt after realizing the
consequences of her actions. This loss
transforms her into La Llorona, the
weeping woman who wanders through the
waterways in eternal grieving over her
children. Llorona, in her
desperate search for her child, pops up
unexpectedly when she hears the laughing
of children playing near rivers,
lagoons, or even on the beach. You should never
let your kids alone since Llorona always
returns to kidnap more children.
