The National System of Conservation Areas (Sinac) has stated that the Chirripó National Park, in the Talamanca Mountain Range will be closed on October 12, 2024.

According to the official agency in charge of preserving Costa Rica's national parks and wildlife reserves, the park's closure is due to the recruitment process for the company that will manage the protected zone beginning in October.

Currently, the park will continue to welcome visitors until October 11, 2024. The online ticketing system is not only handy for guests but also affordable, with tickets ranging from $5 to $30.

The online ticket service is simple to use. A video tutorial is available on the Sinac YouTube Channel for those who require assistance purchasing tickets.

The 50,000-hectare park features Chirripó Peak, Costa Rica's highest peak at 3,820 meters above sea level.

On clear days, it is possible to enjoy views of the Caribbean and Pacific coasts from its top. Hikers enjoy the rich collection of all plants and animals living in that region along the way to the peak.

Chirripó was established as a national park in July 1975. It is home to a variety of sculpted glacial formations, including U-shaped valleys, lakes (moraines), and terraces. Visitor amenities include information, a park ranger station, trails, signs, bathrooms, drinking water stations, various natural landscapes and accommodations.
