Every
August 15, Costa Rica celebrates Mother's
Day. The holiday allows expats to
commemorate their favorite maternal figures
twice.
Mother's
Day is celebrated on several dates across
the world. Mothering Sunday is commemorated
on the final Sunday of March in the United
Kingdom and Ireland, whereas Mother's Day is
observed on the second Sunday of May in the
United States, Canada, Germany, and
Australia.
In
Costa Rica, the day decided was August 15th.
The Catholic Church also commemorates the
day of the Virgin Mary's Assumption into
Heaven.
Thursday
is an official holiday, thus most public and
commercial organizations, including banks,
ministries, schools, clinics, towns, and
embassies, will be closed.
Businesses benefit greatly from the holiday as well. Costa Ricans have a well-known expression, "Usted ya hizo su Agosto," which translates to "You made it in August." The unusual question arises when someone succeeds in making a profit in business as a result of an increase in sales on a certain day.
There
are still
plenty of destinations with delicious
offerings available for you to celebrate
on Mother’s Day. The

San José offers lunch and a serenade. The

(beef, pork, or chicken), salads, and hot

Marriott Hotel in
Belen, Heredia
offers lunch and dinner selections that
include a
main meal, salad, and dessert for $30.

Radisson Hotel in
San José offers a buffet dinner with live
music, accommodation, and a buffet
breakfast. The price for two adults is
$210. The alternative without
accommodation is $60 for adults and $35

San José offers a buffet lunch with live
music and cocktails for mom for $55.00. Reservations

Park Inn Hotel in
San José serves a buffet lunch with a main
course, side dishes, dessert, and a drink

AC Hotel in Belen, Heredia
offers flamenco-themed dinners including
unlimited Spanish tapas, live music, and a
glass of wine, for $50. Make reservations

menu including
