The Argentine-based tech company, Globant, announced a $1 billion investment plan in Latin America to strengthen its presence throughout the region.

The firm goal is to enhance commitment to regional talent with a hiring plan to add 20,000 new professionals over the next five years across 30 of Globant's development centers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, and Uruguay.

"We were born in Latin America, and believe that it is one of the strongest regions when it comes to innovation, talent, and creativity. Latin America is key for our global growth as a source of continuous improvement of our service offering," said Martín Migoya, Co-founder and CEO of Globant. "We want to expand our capacity for innovation and development of our AI-based offering, always to help organizations stay relevant and leaders in the future."

In Costa Rica, they are actively hiring for its facilities located in the Real Cariari Industrial Zone, in Heredia Province.

They seek all kinds of skills from professionals with technical knowledge to recent graduates with an intermediate-to-advanced level of English. Open job vacancies are for departments such as technology, sales, support, engineering, IT, innovation and customer service among others. People interested should visit the firm's career website.

The company investment plant is pursuing a strong expansion in the region and creating an Innovation and Emerging Technologies Center.

From this Center, specialists will investigate possible new uses of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing to help Globant's clients leverage these trends both today and long-term. This Center will develop new AI applications for Salesforce solutions.

The firm has more than 27,000 employees and is present in 25 countries and five continents working for companies like Google, Electronic Arts and Santander, among others.

Even though new businesses are creating jobs, unemployment remains at 9.6%, according to the National Employment Survey.

Data recorded from May to June 2023 shows more than 225,000 people without registered jobs. Of these, 116,000 are men, making up 51% of the unemployed people in the country.

Globant is one of many international firms investing in Costa Rica. Recently, Intel Corporation announced a massive investment of $1.2 billion to expand its operations located in Heredia Province.
