California-based ICU Medical, Inc.  has recruited additional staff due to an increased demand for medical devices produced in Costa Rica, to supply needs around the world.

In addition, the company announced that it will donate $20,000 to Costa Rican authorities, to aid in the COVID-19 emergency response.

“We have made offers for 200 new positions in recent weeks, to push forward with the manufacture of essential medical products during the COVID-19 emergency, " said Isaías González, General Director of the ICU Medical Plant in Costa Rica.  " Our new employees have already been integrated into plant operations and are now working in accordance with the health and safety blueprint provided by the Ministry of Health.”

In January, ICU celebrated its 20th anniversary in Costa Rica and announced an investment of $13 million in its local plant. The investment, which was made at the La Aurora District in  Heredia Province, included a new infusion pump manufacturing line and a state-of-the-art sterilization plant. Currently, the company has 2,400 employees in Costa Rica.
