Restrictions on
Puntarenas ferryBy the A.M. Costa Rica staff The ferry services provided from the Puntarenas port to the ports of Paquera and Playa Naranjo, and vice-versa, were restricted as safety measures caused by the covid-19. According to the Ministry of Transport, government authorities ordered a decrease in the transit of vehicles in the country facing the increase in cases infected by the coronavirus. As of Monday, there are 467 patients infected with coronavirus covid-19 in the country. Following the new restrictions, the ferry service may be available only two days, today Monday and tomorrow Tuesday morning. The vehicles that can use ferry trips are: - Cargo trucks to supply stores in the area. - Emergency vehicles, police, public institutions such as electrical services or telecommunications. - In the case of private vehicles, they can use the ferry trips only if the license plate number is enabled to drive on Monday or Tuesday. From April 8- 12, the ferry trip services will be discontinued. Also, the company Riteve SyC, in charge of carrying out the technical review of vehicles, announced that all workshop garage facilities will be closed during Easter. The operations will be continued on Monday, April 13. In the case of drivers who had an appointment scheduled for vehicle review during Easter, they can request for a reschedule at line 905-788-0000, said Riteve in their statement. Plus, all the facilities of the National Road Council, COSEVI, will remain closed from April 8- 12. Offices will reopen operations on Monday, April 13. People who must make duties as claims of fines, the process to recover seized plates among others may do so before Wednesday, April 8. According to the ministry, during the driving restriction this weekend, Saturday to Sunday, a total of 689 fines were carried out for driving during the driving ban schedule.
