Police have arrested members of 58 gangs of drug traffickers this year

According to the report of the Drug Control Police, 58 narco-gangs have been dismantled of which 10 were international drug traffickers and 48 were local. Some13 were family groups.
The most recent two cases were in the province of Limón* and the southern zone of the country.
In Limón, police officers made two simultaneous raids to capture of three people: a 40-year-old man surnamed Flores Zamora, a 50-year-old woman surnamed Mora Solano, and a 46-year-old man surnamed Castillo Robert.
Castillo Robert had a criminal record on illegally carrying arms and drug dealing, police said.
In addition to the arrests, 60 doses of cocaine, $2,453 in cash, two firearms and 23 rounds of ammunition were confiscated.
"This drug gang began to be investigated by the police in December after officers got information via the confidential and free line: 11-76, about a house where people were selling drugs of all kinds," said police in a report.
The second case was in Paso Canoas* in the south of the country.
There the police said they detained a man surnamed Castellon who has a criminal record for selling drugs. Another man arrested is named Martinez, who also has a criminal record for drug sales and human trafficking, they added. A woman surnamed Gonzalez, who also has a criminal record of selling drugs, also was arrested, they said.
In this case, 137 doses of crack, one dose of cocaine, and $150 in cash were seized.
According to the police report, these last two groups are part of the 58 criminal organizations that have been destroyed this year.

The police asked people to continue to report on these two telephone lines any suspicion of people who sell drugs or commit any type of crime.
