Employee of the Judicial Investigation Organization arrested as suspect of being part of a narcotic gang

Thursday agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization detained five men and two women as suspects of being a drug dealers gang. This happened in San Ramón* in Alajuela.
Among the detainees is a 29-year-old man surnamed Rodriguez, who worked as an employee at the jail in Puntarenas* and was part of the judiciary.
According to the police report, Rodriguez "was in charge of giving information to members of the gang as when they're going to carry out drug seizures operations and in where are the sectors where the operations would take place in order to allow the gang members to take out the drug from those places before being raided," said the agents on its report.
The others detained were:
- A man surnamed Fernandez, 50 years old, who already has a police record for robbery.
- His wife, a woman surnamed Vargas, 47 years old.
- A 29-year-old man surnamed Fernandez, who is the son of the two detainees mentioned above, Fernandez and Vargas.
- A woman surnamed Sandoval, 40 years old.
- A man surnamed Ledezma, 35 years old.
- The last detainee is a man surnamed Chacon, 42 years old, who was already a prisoner in the jail of Puntarenas. He is suspected of being a member of the gang and someone who distributed marijuana, cocaine and crack among prisoners.
The investigation carried out by the agents in San Ramón for over a year managed to determine that this gang was selling crack, marijuana, and cocaine in parks, bars and liquor stores in the area of San Ramón," said agents in their report.
In addition to the arrests, the agents said they confiscate drugs that will be used as evidence in the investigation.
The suspects, including the one who was already in jail, were taken to the cells of the Public Ministry, where they were interviewed by the judicial agents. They are awaiting for a judge to order the pre-trial measures against them.
