The Ministry of Public Works announced that due to the construction of a new viaduct or elevated expressway in the traffic circle know as Garantias Sociales, in the town of Zapote* in San José, there will be programmed closures in the Circunvalación highway.
The project of the new viaduct in the zone of Zapote* has a cost of $17.6 million that are financed with a loan from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration. The U.N. Office for Project Services is the organization that manages this project that is being built by the MECO company.
Workers have closed the access to the road due to the construction of a rainwater collector.
From Tuesday night until next Friday, there will be a 24-hour closure on the road between the traffic circle known as Garantias Sociales* in Zapote and the traffic circle known as Y Griega* near the entrance to Desamparados.
"The measure is necessary for security reasons because there are works of excavations in the area with large machinery," said the ministry in its statement.
The road between both traffic intersections will be open next week.
According to the ministry's schedule, the construction of the new viaduct has an advance of 32 percent.
