The Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications announced that the RightsCon summit on human rights in the digital era worldwide, will be held in Costa Rica at the National Conventions Center in Heredia* June 8 to 12, 2020.
"At this moment, our country has set goals in topics such as 5G, innovation, technologies, artificial intelligence, data protection, and cybersecurity, to name a few," said Luis Adrián Salazar, minister of Science, Technology and Telecommunications. "For this reason, it is not a coincidence that Costa Rica has been chosen to host the world's largest technology and human rights conference for 2020."
According to the ministry, every year this conference brings together world leaders in business, representatives of governments, the most important companies in the field of digital technology and the most important representers of human rights, all with the goal to increase access to technology all over the world.
Originally this conference was held in Silicon Valley, but now cities are chosen around the world that should have two characteristics, be powerful technology centers and respect human rights. According to the ministry, Costa Rica meets these requirements.
In this global meeting will be analyzing issues such as: artificial intelligence, digital disruption (when new digital technologies and business models affect the value proposition of existing goods and services), cybersecurity, connectivity, the internet of things, smart cities and the impact of technology to achieve the goals in the field of sustainable development, among others.
