Police officers arrest 453 people with prior warrants

Statistics provided by the Ministry of Security show that during the month of May, 50 patrol operations were carried out which resulted in the arrest of 453 people with arrest warrants.
Special patrol operations occur when police officers receive support from other institutions such as agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization, immigration police, or drug control police, among others.
Michael Soto, Minister of Security said of the operations "This joint work among all the police forces in the country has given achievements that motivate us to continue doing this type of operation. "
As a result of these 50 special patrols, more than 2,160 people were arrested, of those 510 were wanted for the commission of various crimes, and the remaining 453 people had open arrest warrants requested by a judge for previously committed crimes.
One of the most important categories of arrests is that of suspects who were caught at the very moment they committed a criminal action. A total of 348 people were arrested in this condition and sent to the Flagrant Court.
A flagrant crime is a legal term, indicating that a criminal has been caught in the act of committing an offense. The colloquial "caught red-handed" is the English equivalent.
Regarding weapons, the police confiscated 233 firearms, of which 113 were pistols, 86 revolvers, 25 long rifle weapons and 9 were handmade weapons. In addition, 1,148 munitions of various sizes were confiscated.
As for the seizure of motorcycles, which according to the police are one of the main vehicles used during the commission of a homicide, 85 that had been reported stolen were seized.
With respect to drugs, the police seized 47.9 kilos of marijuana, 1.5 kilos of cocaine and 2.3 kilos of crack.
With respect to the security officers of companies, a review of the legal situation of at least 907 private police officers was made.
According to the Miniseries, the special patrolling operations that have been carried out during this year, from January to May, have resulted in a decrease in the number of homicides compared to the same period of 2018 when there were 265 while there were only 216 in the same period of 2019, a reduction of 49.

The country with the lowest rate is Australia with 0.1 and the country with the highest rate is Lesotho with 65.2
