National Road Council reported that due to
the placement of prefabricated arches in the
new bridge that is being built on the Cruz
River, the road between Santa Ana* and Ciudad Colón* will be
closed on Saturday, from 6 a.m. up to 4 p.m.
The new bridge will have a length of 5.3
meters and will have 3 lanes, two more than
the old bridge.
According to the Council, repairs are being
made on five bridges in the area: on the
Cruz River, the Guapinol River, on Death
River 1 and Death River 2, and on the San
Marcos River. The investment in the
construction of these five bridges is ₡1.3
billion colones (about $2,246,116).
Another road that is being repaired is on
the route between the town of Tibas* and the bridge
over the Virilla River*.
According to the ministry, the placement of
asphalt along 2 km of road has been
completed, however, the paint on the road
will not be in place until the end of May,
because the asphalt must be completely dry
before paint is applied. "It is necessary to
wait three weeks so that the material placed
is sufficiently dry and so the paint adheres
properly," said Hannia Rosales
representative of the National Road Council.
The cost in the construction of this road of
2 km was of ₡350 million colones (about
$587,110) financed with resources of the
National Council of Roads.
