The legendary Harlem Globetrotters will arrive in
Costa Rica in June as part of their "Fan Powered
World Tour."
Just in case any reader does not know, the Harlem
Globetrotters are an exhibition basketball team.
They combine athleticism, theater, and comedy in
their style of play. Over the years, they have
played more than 26,000 exhibition games in 123
countries and territories.
In Costa Rica, they will offer three shows at the Playground of the Oxigeno Shopping
Center* in Alajuela. The first show will be on
Saturday, July 20 at 4:00 p.m., the second at 8:00
p.m. and the third on Sunday the 21st at 8:00 p.m.

The show lasts an hour and a half and is recommended
for all audiences, as it not only focuses on the
sporting aspect but also the athletes interact with
those present in a humorous show.
"With our main stage, these basketball stars will
delight all their fans, offering a renewed show, but
with the characteristic and unmistakable ingredients
of their show," said Gustavo Segura, general manager
of Oxygen.
The Globetrotters will face the Washington Generals,
keeping clear that the goal of this tour is not to
win games but to entertain the audience.
Before arriving in Costa Rica, the Globetrotters
will be in the United States, England, Spain,
Serbia, and Romania as part of the world tour.
The Globetrotters originated on the south side of
Chicago, Illinois, in the 1920s, where all the
original players were raised. In 1985 the first
female player was signed, Olympic gold medalist
Lynette Woodard. Now the team counts four coaches
and 59 players (7 women, 52 men).
