The movie "Ceniza Negra" (“Black Ash”) and the short
film “Lucía en el Limbo” (“Lucia in Limbo”) will perform
at the Cannes film festival in 2019 in France.
Ceniza Negra, by director Sofía Quirós, and Lucía En El
Limbo, by director Valentina Maurel, have the female
figure as protagonists.
The first film, tells the story of the main character,
Selva, 13, who discovers that death is only the
detachment of our skin. She can become wolves, goats,
shadows or whatever fantasy allows.
The second movie is about Lucia, 16, who wants to get
rid of two things more than anything: head lice and her
virginity.
Those films, as part of essential Costa Rica country
brand ,will be screened at the Marché Du Film trade
shows.
"The Marché Du Film of the Cannes Film Festival is an
ideal space to promote the talent that is produced in
Costa Rica, as it brings together industry professionals
in exclusive exhibitions that allow generating
relationships with content buyers and sales agents to
place the productions in the different platforms:
cinema, streaming, festivals, and airlines," said Jose
Castro, Film Commissioner of Costa Rica.
According to Castro, the Film Commission has a country
stand at the Festival, where Costa Rican producers will
have around 30 meetings with filmmakers from around the
world.
