Agents of the Drug Control police detained an
Italian citizen man surnamed Pizzocri, 58 years old,
on his arrival at the Juan Santamaría International
Airport*, as suspect of international hashish
trafficking.
U.S. Institute of Drug Abuse said that hashish, or
hash, is a drug made from the resin of the cannabis
plant. It is consumed by smoking a small piece,
typically in a pipe, bong, vaporizer or joint, or
orally ingestion.
The police report that, during a routine review, the
found that the suspect was traveling with a suitcase
"double lining where was hidden a load of 3.182
grams of marijuana hash that he was intended to
bring into the country."
The suspect made six trips to Costa Rica, between
2012 and 2018. On this trip, he planned to stay in
the country until April 15, when he would return to
Mexico.
The officers seized the drug, and approximately $588
in cash in Mexican pesos, euros and dollars.
The suspect was sent to the cells of the Public
Ministry, where agents of the Judicial Investigation
Organization interviewed him as part of the
investigation. He will be there until a judge sets
the pre-trial measures against him.
According to the Ministry of Security, if the
suspect is found guilty of illegal drug trafficking,
he could face a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
In another case involving an Italian citizen
captured in Costa Rica for links with drug
trafficking, as A.M. Costa Rica reported on Mach
1st, officers of the Drug Control Police detained a
46-year-old, Italian citizen, surnamed Levice in the
town of Puerto Viejo, Limón*.
Levice is suspected of trafficking drugs to Italy.
Police report that the suspect, who has a residence
card and no criminal record, was detained on his
property. He is in business of renting cabins to
tourists.

In addition to
detaining Levice, the police seized 2.1 grams of
hashish, two marijuana plants between 30 and 60
centimeters tall, and ¢3,279,000 colones in cash
(about $5,397).
The investigation began in January 2018 when the
suspect apparently used his business to rent cabins
as a screen to hide an operations center where drugs
were prepared and people recruited to take the drugs
to Europe.
"The suspect was developing and directing drug
shipments abroad, an activity in which another
Italian man surnamed Righini was allegedly
involved," said police report.
That other man, Righini, also an Italian age 48, was
also captured on May 22, 2018, at the Juan
Santamaría International Airport.
He was attempting to leave the country carrying 70
ovules containing 582 grams of cocaine inside his
body.
The investigator’s report says that airport
officials, in a routine review, detected that
Righini had the ovules in his stomach.
Apparently, Righini had ingested the ovules when he
was in one of Levice’s cabins. After a trial, he was
sentenced to five years in prison.
Levice was taken to the cells of the Public
Ministry, where a judge sentenced to six months
pre-trial measures against him.
