With the symbolic placement of the first stone,
Firefighters of Costa Rica Wednesday began the
construction of two modern stations with an
investment of $25 million.
The financing of these stations was made through the
issuance of bonds through the INS Valores stock
exchange, which belongs to the National Insurance
Institute. According to Elian Villegas, Executive
President of National Insurance Institute, the
investment will be managed by a National Bank trust.
President Carlos Alvarado, who attended the
placement of the first stone, said that "the

by promoting this type of sustainable project, whose
goal is protection and benefit for the people."
The South Station will be located in front of the
Cañas General Park, at 12 Avenida 18 Street in the
community of Barrio Mexico*. The North
Station will be located at 9 Avenue 23rd street, in
the community of Barrio El Carmen*.
Each building will have a construction area of 5
thousand square meters and will have a rainwater
collection tank with a capacity of 300 thousand
gallons so that the firefighter's trucks can be
filled during the an emergency.
Both buildings can generate their own electricity
and can save a tank of drinking water for up to two
consecutive weeks, without depending on public
services. The building also will resist earthquakes
of seismic Class A, currently the highest and safest
category.
The buildings will also have photovoltaic panels
that will help to generate clean energy, solar water
heaters, and LED lighting systems.
