Expo Pyme Souvenirs will take place this weekend By the A.M. Costa Rica staff ExpoPYME 2019 will be held at the National Convention Center* in Heredia. The Expo was developed for entrepreneurs to sell their handcrafted products and runs from June 28 to 30. The fair will have the stands for 250 companies registered as ‘Pyme’ (a Spanish acronym for small and medium enterprises). Thirty of those will be selling handicrafts and design products. Among the souvenirs and handicrafts offered for sale will be masks, wood products, indigenous textiles, and silver jewelry. The entrance to ExpoPYME is free, as is parking. In September 2018, as A.M. Costa Rica reported, the government presented a series of plans to support Pymes. The plan in favor of small companies includes a fund of $12.5 million from the Bank for Development that will benefit 295 entrepreneurs in the next 4 years, as well as business support programs, and credit facilities among other advantages. The plan also includes a program to support tourism called the Discover Project, which hopes to develop small businesses in coastal areas. More information about the Pyme souvenirs fair can be reached at the ExpoPyme web site here*. ------------------------------ Do you know of any entrepreneur who could take advantage of the SMEs program?
