This weekend in San José and Puntarenas there will be weekend gastronomic and cultural festivals. In the city, the Municipality of San José invites you to visit three gastronomic festivals. The first option is the Festival of "Empanadas" will take place in Chinatown of San José*, on Saturday 25. An empanada is a type of baked or fried pasty. The name comes from the Spanish word for "en-breaded", that is, wrapped or coated in bread. Empanadas are made by folding dough over a stuffing, which consists of meat, cheese, or corn, among other ingredients. If you like empanadas or want to try one, and also learn more about the culture you may like to visit Chinatown in San José, (the map is in this link*). The festival starts at 10 a.m. and there will be the music from bands, typical dances, typical characters, clowns, and folk music. The second option is also organized by the municipality, the Truck Food Festival* in the San José National Park (here is the location*), on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26. The festival runs from 10 a.m. until 10 o'clock p.m. both days. Where there will be more than 20 food trucks with all kinds of menu items such as American food, Costa Rican food, Chinese food, European food, vegetarian food, and even a gluten-free menu. There will also be music and outdoor entertainment activities. The third option is also organized by the municipality. The family walk and picnic will be on Sunday 26, in the Central Park La Sabana* (check the map on this link*). The activity first involves an outdoor walk then live music, games, cultural presentations, Zumba dance, and a Hip Hop concert. It continues the rest of the afternoon with a family picnic. More information about these three activities in San José can be reached at the Municipality of San José Facebook page link*. Outside of San Jose, the Development Association and the Festival Commission of the town of Potrero Grande* in Buenos Aires in Puntarenas invites you to visit the Chiricanas Festival.
