The Tourism Institute reports that 13 Costa Rican
companies are presenting their tourism offerings at
the IMEX fair in Frankfurt, Germany.
IMEX is one of the most important international
fairs in the world and brings together exhibitors
and buyers of congresses, conventions, and events,
which took place from 21 to 23 May.
"The participation of Costa Rica
companies as an opportunities to expand networks and
professional connections, through previously
organized business meetings," said the institute in
its statement.
Costa Rica participates with a stand
of 80 square meters, with a design based on wood,
with huge format graphics that show images of the
country, videos and areas of attention to buyers.
On this occasion, as an innovative
element, co-working spaces were made for the buyers,
totally designed with images and key promotion
messages on Costa Rica.
On March 7, as was published on A.M.
Costa Rica, the Institute was promoting the country
in the ITB tourism fair in Berlin, Germany.
According to the Ministry of Tourism,
the Costa Rica stand-cafeteria was shared with
business partner Lufthansa airline and included
executives from 38 tourism companies plus executives
of Institute.
Maria Amalia Revelo, Minister of
Tourism reported that ITB Berlin could be visited by
110,000 people during weekdays and 160,000 on the
weekend. It is the largest tourism fair in the
world, with 79 percent of the professional buyers
who visit it from European countries, but that
others come from America, Asia, and other
continents.
Statistics from the Ministry, provide
the following data on European tourists:
- In 2018, there were 480,102 tourists
from Europe.
- Of that total, 74,574 were Germans
tourists.
- Germany is the most important
tourist market in European countries.
- The second place is the United
Kingdom with 74,338 tourists.
- The third place in France with
74,032 tourists.
- On average, Germans stay in the
country an estimated 16.7 nights.
- With regard to spending, on average
to German tourist spends $ 143.16 per day.
