Government announces National Fast Charge Network for electric vehicles nationwide |

On Tuesday, first lady Claudia Dobles unveiled the map where the fast charging centers for electric vehicles will be located by December of this year. "Today we announce the first 34 fast-loading centers that will be installed by December which will allow the national population and tourists to move in an electric vehicle across the country without fear of running out of battery charge," said first lady Dobles. "It's about fast charging, where people will charge 80 percent of their vehicle's battery in an estimated time of 20 minutes." The activity took place in the Substation of the National Company of Electricity in Paso Ancho* in San José where a fast loading center was inaugurated. The first loading stations that will be installed in December of this year are 29 from the Costa Rican Electricity Institute, four from the National Company of Electricity, and one located in Cartago from the Administrative Board of the Electric Services of Cartago. In addition, the decree that regulates the location of all loading points that should be placed by the electricity distributors was signed in accordance with the Law of Incentives and Promotion for Electric Transportation. Some of the provisions established in the decree are: - Establish the creation of a computer platform for the operational and charging management of the cargo network, in which the Costa Rican Electricity Institute already works in coordination with the other distributors. |
- Users can access the platform using an app through a mobile device or through a web page, where they can reserve the charger, as well as the payment management of the electricity consumed, through a purse that will be linked to a credit or debit card. - The platform will also include the map for the search of the recharge stations, the prepayment management and information through a call center. - The distributors will define the exact location where the recharge centers will be located, considering stable internet access, security conditions, public service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, current or new routes with high traffic flow, topographical aspects and proximity of sites of tourist interest, developments of national interest and residential or commercial complexes.
