The National Road Council (CONAVI), will carry out road surface marking of the exclusive bus lanes from the Hispanidad fountain in San Pedro*, to the supermarket Muñoz & Nanne*, which is approximately 1.3 kilometers. The work will be done this weekend.

CONAVI says that the work will be carried out at night, starting on Saturday the 12th from 9:00 p.m. until Sunday 13 at 5:00 a.m.

After that the work will continue on Sunday the 13th from 9:00 p.m. until Monday January 14 at 5:00 a.m.

The institution calls on drivers to take precautionary measures to avoid accidents during the hours of road work.

This is the first stage of the plan to improve the San Pedro, Curridabat and Tres Ríos roads.

The Vice Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Brenes, said that the work will focus on road surface marking on external lanes in both directions of the road to be used exclusively for buses. Special bus services and taxis will not be able to use those exclusive lanes.

This week workers will begin the placement of vertical signs, so the exclusive lanes will be marked in the east zone of San Pedro in San Jose.

The National Road Council has invested ¢14.2 million colones ($ 23,424) on this part of the work.

According to the statistics of the Council of Public Transport, 3,412 buses have been counted going through these roads every day.

There will be a second stage of road marking from the Muñoz & Nanne* supermarket in San Pedro to the Galera* gas station in Curridabat, added CONAVI.

A third stage from the Hispanidad fountain in San Pedro* to La California* in San Jose.

The final stage begins at the Galera* gas station in Curridabat and continues to the town of La Unión in Tres Rios*.
