Investigators found human in Limón plane crash

By A.M. Costa Rica staff A report from the information department of the police of Cariari* in Limón stated that, on Tuesday at 3 a.m., a small plane crashed near the property known as Finca Lomas between Sierpe and Cariari in Limon on the Atlantic Coast. Police report that they received an emergency 9-1-1 call at about 3:15 a.m. reporting the fall of a small plane. Rescuers from the Red Cross, firefighters and police officers moved to the area but found only parts of the burning plane. Immediately upon arrival, the report continued, the Red Cross rescuers made a search of the site looking for survivors. When none were found, the rescue crew left the area while firefighters and police officers stayed on site. The press department of the Judicial Investigation Organization confirmed that they sent agents to the plane crash area and confirmed they found a human body that had been burned along with the parts of the plane. Due to the difficult access to the area, the forensic specialist agents are still in the process of removing the human remains. The investigators are in the process of looking for ways to identify the plane and its flight route and are searching for a way to identify the individual who died at the site.
