The newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Ventura, in his first speech to all the Ministers, directors and executives, committed himself to improving and strengthening the diplomatic careers in that institution.

The Minister, sworn in on Tuesday by President Alvarado, said that the international prestige of country will be improved.

"I propose, with humility and commitment, to increase our respect and raise our voices when we notice setbacks or disrespect for our democratic coexistence, our institutions and our freedoms," said Minister Ventura.

The minister also undertook to address the concerns, ideas and proposals of the workers of the ministry as well as to strengthen the diplomatic career.

"We are living a transition process, and I intend, with your help, to do everything in my power to improve, not only our reputation and external prestige, but also our internal coexistence and our daily work," said Minister Ventura.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the period in which Vice President Epsy Campbell was in charge, was the subject of discussion in the Legislative Assembly due to the appointment of high position directors, who apparently did not meet the minimum requirements for their positions.
